Floating the Jorday River
The Jordan River (in Utah) runs all the way from Utah Lake to the Great Salt Lake. Amber and I ventured out today and floated the stretch between 6400 South and 3300 South in Salt Lake. Overall, I'd have to say it is not a bad float. No big rapids to speak of- the biggest hazard is that around bends in the river, the current tends to drag you into these sharp trees that seem to line the whole river. After we learned how to avoid those, we did fine. I brought along my GPS device and marked some nice fishing holes to go back to later and try my luck. We had to get out at one point, around 4500 South because of some "falls". I think we could have taken them, but in the moment I chickened out. It was nice because at out put-in spot and get-out spot there were little landings for watercraft which made it convenient. I would recommend it for a lazy afternoon activity.
